Dr. Dean Clower is a native of Millen, Georgia. He graduated cum laude from Georgia Tech then received his medical degree from The Medical College of Georgia in 1979. He completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine at Norfolk, Virginia in 1984. Dr. Clower is Board certified by the American Board of Urology. After completion of his training he practiced Urology for 32 years in Lynchburg, Va. He was active in all surgical and medical aspects of Urology with special interests in oncology, stone disease, incontinence, overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis. He served in several medical staff positions. He has been involved with economic issues of health care delivery and was board chair of a regional health care insurance plan in Lynchburg. Dr. Clower joined Athens Area Urology, P.C. in March, 2017 and currently practices in our Royston office. He limits his practice to office-based urology evaluating and advising on care but no longer performs procedures. Dr. Clower enjoys time with the family, golf and exploring the outdoors.
