Doctors in office
Covid-19 Notice

March 16, 2020

JUNE 26, 2020 - UPDATE In an effort to keep our patients and staff members healthy and safe, we have enacted a face mask policy. We now require face masks/face coverings to be worn during the entire visit. Additionally, we ask that patients practice social distancing. Please do not have anyone accompany you to your appointment unless discussed with the office prior to your visit.

MAY 5, 2020 - UPDATE Athens Area Urology is currently screening patients for symptoms prior to appointments. We are wearing masks in our office and ask our patients to bring in their own masks or we can provide you with something temporary during your appointment. At this time, we are not allowing patients to have anyone else with them in the exam rooms. Here at Athens Area Urology we are taking the health and safety of our patients and staff seriously and ask if you have experienced or are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, please reach out to us and we can reschedule your appointment. If you are unable to make it in for your appointment, we will continue to offer our telemedicine services during this time.

MARCH 15, 2020 At Athens Area Urology we are dedicated to the care of our patients and to the health and wellbeing of our staff and our families. We are monitoring all CDC guidelines and are partners with our local hospitals in monitoring and doing our part to help manage the Covid-19 pandemic as it affects our part of the world. We recognize that while some urological issues are elective and can wait, others cannot. We continue to be here for you. At the time of this notice we at Athens Area Urology plan to keep our office open but of course will follow local, statewide and national guidelines and directives. Our offices are planned to be closed from Tuesday March 24th at 3pm until Monday March 30th at 8am for a previously scheduled computer update.

Please continue to follow all handwashing and social distancing guidelines which have been widely published and promoted. We continue to follow environmental cleaning protocols and will follow any new CDC guidelines for medical offices as they evolve.

If you feel you have been exposed to Covid-19, or have traveled to high-risk areas with regard to Covid-19, contact us through the patient portal (athensareaurology.com) or by calling 706-612-9401 and allow us to reschedule your appointment. Please leave a message if our receptionists are not able to take your call immediately. It is important to note that you should not come to the office if you have a fever over 100, flu like symptoms or exposure to Covid-19. We do not have testing for Covid-19 in our office.

If you have surgery scheduled and would like to speak to someone about rescheduling (or whether or not your surgery needs to be rescheduled), contact us through the patient portal (athensareaurology.com) or by calling 706-612-9401. Elective surgeries will likely need to be delayed over the next several weeks to preserve supplies and hospital resources until needs are more clear. We will be contacting patients in this situation to re-arrange plans. Some urological surgeries however will need to be done despite the situation. We are coordinating with the local hospitals to ensure that surgeries that needs to be done can be done.

If you have an upcoming appointment scheduled in the next two weeks and are worried about coming to the office and would like to speak to someone about rescheduling your appointment, please contact us as above.

Again, the physicians, practitioners and staff at Athens Area Urology have dedicated our lives to helping others, and we will continue to be there when you need us. Be careful but not fearful as we all learn together to work within the safety parameters needed during the current pandemic. If you have any questions please contact us.
