Laparoscopic surgery is performed through the smallest of incisions. Often about one centimeter in size. This surgical technique allows your surgeon to achieve equivalent surgical results as with open procedures, but with several benefits. The small incisions often result in less blood loss, decreased hospital stay, and more rapid return to normal activity.
Robotic surgery is laparoscopic surgery utilizing the daVinci Robot surgical tool to enhance visibility, range of motion, and dexterity. The robot permits increased surgeon control with pinpoint maneuvering and 12x three-dimensional visibility. Similar to standard laparoscopy, these surgeries are performed through small incisions about 1 cm in size. Many surgeries that once required large abdominal incisions can now be performed through small incisions utilizing the robot.
